Indigenous Eats popups

Spokane’s Indigenous Eats will dish up fry bread and other Native American comfort foods at two popup events on Friday and Saturday.

The Indigenous Eats trailer will be at the Yakamart from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., April 3, at 111 Fort Road Toppenish.

On April 4, it will be at the Medussa Taproom from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at 5426 N. Road 68., Pasco.

The trailer will serve a limited menu featuring Indigenous Eats most popular items, including Indian tacos, fry bread and huckleberry sauce.

“We’ve been wanting to bring Indigenous Eats beyond our walls and into more communities, said Jenny Slagle, co-owner and an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation.

She said the popups are about sharing food, culture and creating gathering spaces.

Jenny and Andrew Slagle established Indigenous Eats in Spokane. Its food trailer allows it to participate in community events, reach new audiences and create economic opportunities by sharing Native food traditions in an engaging way.

It was financed by the Nimiipuu Community Development Fund and a grant from the Northwest Native Chamber.

King Burrito opens

King Burrito has opened in Kennewick following a lengthy update to the former Jimmy John’s spot at 3107 W. Kennewick Ave., near Highway 395. The Mexican restaurant dishes up burritos, tacos and a variety of beverages. It’s led by Cesar Mauri Alaniz Gutierrez and Norma Ramirez Zamudio.

Hours are 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

New home for La Bella Vita?

La Bella Vita Restaurant is considering building a new two-story building in West Richland.

The Richland restaurant is seeking approval to build a 14,400-square-foot restaurant at 2850 Belmont Blvd., according to planning documents.

The city is conducting an environmental review of the proposal.

Comments are due by 5 p.m., April 13 and should be addressed to the Community Development Department, 3100 Belmond Blvd., Suite 104, West Richland, WA 99353.
