Coming soon: Cold Stone, hot soup restaurant and adult family homes

Always Home has opened an adult family home campus in western Kennewick.

Eddie Larios, co-founder and business operations manager, together with the owners is creating a campus with five individual homes, each set up to serve six seniors or other residents who need assistance with daily living tasks.

Always Home opened last week at 2404 S. Quillan Place, with three complete homes. Two more will be built this summer.

Always Home in Kennewick follows a similar facility, Desert Sage, in Benton City. Desert Sage opened in 2024 with six houses.

Larios said the idea for Always Home was inspired by the South Quillan Place site itself. More than a decade ago, work began on a future sports bar at that property, but that project was abandoned, leaving a partly erected shell on the site.

Larios and the owners, including Brian Trimble and Sidney and Marie Litchfield, saw it as a great location for a villa-style complex offering full-time care but occupying a niche between independent living and full-time nursing care.

Neighbors include dental practices, restaurants and the newly-open apartment and retail complex called The Falls.

Larios said Always Home aims to serve seniors and clients with developmental disabilities, mental health issues or low levels of dementia.

Clients with more advance needs are referred to facilities offering higher levels of care. Always Home also has independent living suites.

Its prices are competitive with other skilled nursing facilities, they said. It is currently private pay, but expects to be authorized by Medicare.

Each Always Home house is organized like a traditional residence.

Clients have their own rooms and private half baths. There is a spacious living room, kitchen area and dining room. Each house can serve up to six clients to start, growing to eight after two years.

It serves three meals a day, around-the-clock staff, help with bathroom tasks, medication management and the occasional expedition.
