Allegiant launches newest Tri-Cities flight. Hello, Disneyland
The Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco celebrated the first of at least two new additions to its 2026 flight schedule on Thursday.
Allegiant Air instituted its new bi-weekly run serving the Orange County/John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, near Los Angeles. The next new flight will debut in June, when Alaska Airlines revives the long-dormant Pasco-Portland flight.
The airport greeted Allegiant’s Airbus aircraft with a traditional water cannon salute to mark its first flight. Pasco officials said 145 passengers were booked on the debut trip.
Buck Taft, airport director, said the Port of Pasco and the Tri-Cities Development Council (TRIDEC) are thrilled to add a third airport in the Los Angeles area to the lineup of destinations.
Los Angeles is the most popular destination for local travelers, who now have the choice of Los Angeles International, Hollywood Burbank and now, Orange County.
Orange County is of particular interest to leisure travelers as the airport closest to Disneyland.
Taft and Karl Dye of TRIDEC meet regularly with airlines to pitch new runs. Dallas, Chicago and San Diego are their top priorities.
“We’re always trying to get new destinations,” Taft said.
