Verizon announces layoffs across WA, including busy Kennewick mall store

Verizon will lay off 165 people at stores throughout Washington, including three at its busy Columbia Center mall location in Kennewick.

The layoffs begin Jan. 23, according to a notice filed with the state Employment Security Department under the Workforce Adjustment Retraining Notification Act or WARN.

The layoffs are permanent.

The affected stores are in Bellevue, Bellingham, Burlington, Covington, Federal Way, Kent, Kirkland, Lakewood, Marysville, Olympia, Redmond, Renton, Seattle, Silverdale, Spokane, Spokane Valley, Tacoma, Tukwila, Vancouver, Wenatchee, Woodinville, Yacolt and Yakima.

The move to consolidate and restructure operations includes laying off 54 who work remotely and live within the state.
