Two Tri-Cities Rite Aid locations added to growing closure list, court documents say
Two of five Rite Aid locations in the Tri-Cities were added to the bankrupt pharmacy chain’s official closure list.
A June 6 court filing adds Rite Aid locations on Steptoe Street in Kennewick and on Lee Boulevard in Richland to the growing closure list.
Rite Aid said it would close or sell all 1,240 stores in 14 states after filing for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey on May 5. Rite Aid sold its pharmacy business to competitors and has brought in liquidation firms to wind down its brick and mortar locations amid the search for buyers.
In the interim, it has announced a series of closures that until June spared the five Tri-Cities locations, including the area’s lone 24-hour public pharmacy.
The other local stores are at 1549 George Washington Way, Richland, 1320 N. 20th Ave., Pasco, and off Highway 395 in Kennewick.
Additional Washington locations added to the list on June 6: Olympia (Cooper Point Road), Mukilteo, Seattle (32nd Avenue West and Northeast 71st), Spokane (Regal Street and North Division), Poulsbo (Seventh Avenue), Bonney Lake (Highway 410), Issaquah (Northwest Gilman), Everett (19th Avenue), Puyallup (Meridian Street East), Redmond (Redmond Way), Bellingham (Northwest Avenue), Tacoma (Sixth Avenue) and Longview (Triangle Shopping Center).
