New $4 million permit issued for this popular Costco feature at 2nd Tri-Cities store
It wouldn’t be a new week if there wasn’t some fresh tidbit to share about construction of the 2nd Tri-Cities Costco Wholesale store.
So here it is: The city of Richland issued a key permit this week authorizing a gas station with positions for 32 vehicles.
The $4 million project is being built in tandem with the main store, which the city authorized in a separate permit.
Costco broke ground at 3125 Queensgate Drive in November, about the same time it closed a 55-year deal to lease on 30 acres from the Washington Department of Natural Resources.
Lydig Construction is the contractor for the store and the fueling station. Construction is expected to wrap up by Fall 2025, setting the stage for Costco to open by early 2026.
The property is bordered by Kennedy Road and Truman Avenue and the future intersection of Queensgate Drive and Kingsgate, which will both be extended by about 1,000 feet.
The Richland store will be about 20% larger than its sister in Kennewick and its parking lot will have 1,024 spots, 24% more than Kennewick.
