Openings: Afghan eatery, new Kennewick book shop & Richland extended-stay hotel
Downtown Pasco has three new food spots: Mexa Mexican American Kitchen, Tri-Cities Afghan Food and Spudnuts.
Mexa Mexican American Kitchen, or Mexa, opened Nov. 13 at 404 W. Lewis St.
Its extensive menu offers a range of Mexican- and American-inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner items as well as desserts.

Tri-Cities Afghan Food debuted Nov. 15 at one of the walk-up windows at Pasco Specialty Kitchen, the commercial kitchen incubator in downtown, 110 S. Fourth Ave.
It serves Afghan-inspired dishes such as savory kababs and spices rice dishes. It is led by Ghulam Sakhi Mirza Mohammad and Amina Hussaini Mohammad.

Spudnuts opened its third Tri-Cities location on Nov. 12 in Pasco, just days after the popular Richland business debuted in Kennewick.
Spudnuts dishes up tasty treats based on potato flour. The Pasco shop is at 3315 W. Court St. Hours are 5 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until it sells out.
The original, The Spudnut Shop, opened in Richland 76 years ago and is a staple of Uptown Shopping Center. Mike Bishop and Ryan Pierson bought the business from long-time owner Val Driver when she retired in 2023.

Storytime Bookshop
Storytime Bookshop and Events is now open in downtown Kennewick.
The children’s bookstore at 309 W. Kennewick Ave. carries used books for children and families as well as adult fiction.
It will host interactive story times, book signings and other events to promote literacy, education and entertainment.

LivAway opens in Richland
LivAway Suites, an extended-stay hotel for budget-minded travelers, has completed construction of its newest Tri-Cities location is now welcoming guests.
The new LivAway is at 1289 Tapteal Drive, near Columbia Center in Richland.
The $12 million, 126-room property was built by Wasatch DC Builder NW on behalf of Richland La Holdings LLC and owner West77 Properties.
Rooms are offered at the new Richland property by the night or by the week, with asking rates of $75 a night or $459 a week for a king suite.
