Tri-City Water Follies was in danger, but this Kennewick company stepped up to help
The future of the Tri-City Water Follies has been secured for the next three years thanks to a new title sponsor..
Apollo Inc., a Kennewick contractor, signed on as title sponsor for Tri-City Water Follies after the nonprofit that puts on the event issued a public plea for support in March. The associated hydroplane races will be named Apollo Columbia Cup.
Tri-City Water Follies is easily the biggest event of the summer calendar, but was in jeopardy as financial losses mounted starting in 2020.
Apollo, a Native American owned general contracting business, is led by owner Bruce Ratchford. It has a 40-year history of constructing commercial and industrial projects worldwide.
Nathan Craghill, president of the Tri-City Water Follies Association, said the group is grateful that a new sponsor stepped up to ensure the 59-year event continues.
STCU is sponsor of the Over the River Airshow, a key aspect of the annual gathering.
The 2024 Tri-City Water Follies is July 26-28 and features hydroplane racing, the exhibit of vintage aircraft and other riverfront fun.
