A big week for openings at Richland’s Uptown. New bakery and nightclub debut
Tina’s Tasty Treats, a 100% gluten-free bakery, has opened its permanent home at Richland’s Uptown Shopping Center.
Owner Tina Pack reports the bakery passed its health department inspection and opened Oct. 21 at 1325 George Washington Way.
Tina and Shawn Pack created the business after Tina faced a life-threatening health crisis in her early 30s that led to nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, potentially a death sentence.
She credits eliminating sugar, dairy, gluten and starches from her diet for saving her life. It also sent her scrambling to recreate her favorite treats without gluten.
They became a staple of the Richland Farmers Market and other events. They plan to remain a part of the market, which wraps up this week, even after opening a brick and mortar store.
Tina’s will add meal and beverages offerings at the Uptown location. Hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday. Go to TinasTastyTreats.com
Last call for farmers market
The Richland Farmers Market wraps up its final installment of the 2023 season with a Halloween-oriented celebration of its farmers, vendors and volunteers from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, at 707 The Parkway.
The market invites supporters to thank the market team for its work and its farmers for donating food to the Richland Food Bank and Fields of Grace each week.

Ray’s Golden Lion opening
Ray’s Golden Lion reopens for real this weekend after the team reviving the storied music venue was forced to delay while it repaired a leaky pipe.
Talon Yager and Andrew McVay are reviving Ray’s some eight years after the original Ray’s closed when it was evicted.
Yager and McVay leased the expansive restaurant and bar space and spent more than $650,000 modernizing the kitchen and stage and cleaning the venue.
The original September opening was scrapped when they discovered leaks in the gas line between the meter and the kitchen during a test. A neighbor, Emerald of Siam Thai Restaurant, held a fundraiser to help with the repair costs.
Ray’s supporters contributed $10,100 to a GoFundMe campaign.
The new Ray’s is scrapping the old Chinese and Mongolian menu in favor of what Yager calls elevated pub food.
The grand reopening is a Halloween bash featuring Motley 2 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28. Rays is at 1353 George Washington Way. Follow it on Facebook or Instagram.
