Popular Tri-Cities family-run business sold to out-of-state chain

A well-known car wash’s name will be disappearing from the Tri-City landscape.

Family-owned Bush Car Wash has been sold to an Arizona-based chain, Mister Car Wash. The sale was finalized Thursday.

Mister Car Wash acquired all six Bush locations in Tri-Cities and a seventh in Walla Walla.

Tim Bush couldn’t be reached by the Herald on Friday but said in a news release, “When my late brother Ned Gosnell came up with the idea to start Bush Car Wash in 2007, his vision was to provide a premium service for folks across the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas. Working together with my sons, co-owners in the business, TJ and Blake, we have worked diligently to honor Ned’s family and legacy, and we know that entrusting Bush Car Wash to Mister Car Wash will continue his vision,” he said.

The Bush chain was in the news in April after reopening all its locations in spite of Washington’s COVID stay-at-home order.

Mister Car Wash already has one Tri-City location at 404 N. Columbia Center Blvd., in Kennewick. The new acquisition brings the number of Washington Mister Car Wash locations to 13, and it has more than 300 nationwide.

“It is a honor to be chosen by the Bush family,” Megan Everett, director of marketing for Mister Car Wash told the Herald.

Everett said that for now, it will be business as usual across the sites. All prepaid cards, unlimited passes and gift cards will be honored.

The final name transition to Mister Car Wash name will take some time, she said. With winter approaching and limitations with weather, the completion to the Mister Car Wash brand could take six months.

During the transition, Everett said the company will get to know the employee teams and the customers. It will be slowly rolling out changes and improvements such as a separate ‘member’ lane for customers.

“Bush Car Wash is a family-run business with deep roots in the community and years of experience providing excellent service,” said Casey Lindsay, vice president of corporate development for Mister Car Wash. “Our motto of “Inspiring People to Shine” aligns nicely with the Bush’s family-oriented approach which will prepare our new team for continued success.”
