Register now for WSU Extension Cattleman’s Boot Camp
Science-based strategies to help Washington’s $5 billion beef industry in the aftermath of the 2015 wildfires will be presented at a two-day Cattleman’s Boot Camp, scheduled April 15-16 at the Benton County Fairgrounds, 1500 S. Oak St. in Kennewick. The event is offered by the WSU Extension in partnership with the American Angus Association.
Participants will learn about emergency feeds. WSU animal scientists and extension researchers will discuss how to use irrigated pastures for higher production, irrigated forage and producers’ different options for alternate feeds.
Also on the agenda is how participants can improve herds and strengthen their businesses. Topics include genetics, nutrition, beef quality and the economic outlook. The seminar will end with a discussion of the latest federal veterinary feed directive, which affects how producers can use antibiotics.
Registration costs $75 and the deadline is March 1. Register and find a schedule of events at www.angusonline.org/event/BootcampEntryForm.aspx.
