What would you deposit in your spiritual bank account?

When you see a little baby sleeping and watch the slight hint of a smile play at the corner of her mouth, you think of the love and safety that surround her. The word contentment may come to mind.

So, too, is the beauty, the love, the peace, the contentment of knowing that the power of God is always right where we are.

Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science, writes in his book “Living the Science of Mind,” of having a spiritual bank account. He asks if you could put two things in your account, what would you put in it?

To me, it would be love and faith. If I know that I am loved, lovable and loving, and I have the faith that God always provides for me, I would have everything I need. The Bank of Life is always open.

Faith and love and being “prayed up” help the world at large.

Being “prayed up” can help us to keep from knee-jerk reacting. Think of John F. Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was surrounded by people giving him advice, but he remained calm and never acted in a reactionary mode.

What is saved up in your spiritual bank account? What have you taken into your life? The love, happiness, peace and prosperity are what you are depositing in your own spiritual bank account.

What you are sending out are your debits. The only way you can ever give is if you have established the cycle of giving and receiving.

Who you associate with and the movies and books you read affect your supply. Start to think of the people you associate with who build you up. Who saps your energy?

Life is short and you sometimes can’t avoid those energy sappers, but when you have the positive energy deposited in your account, you can be around anyone and not be affected.

One of American philosopher Wayne Dyer’s intention cards reads: “When you’re at peace with your life and in a state of tranquility, you actually send out a vibration of energy that impacts all living creatures, including plants, animals … and even babies.”

Remember, this is true with anything you are sending out. What you are sending out, you are getting back.

Sometimes others are sending out the gift of negativity that you just don’t have to open. The bank is closed; you are accepting no more deposits.

Every person, even those who annoy us or push our buttons, give us gifts. The gift might even be to avoid reacting in the future in the same way.

People who have grown up in abusive homes have been given a wonderful example of what not to do. We can spend our lives grumbling about the horrible things that have happened to us in our lives, or we can decide to do it differently when we are in charge.

In “Living the Science of Mind,” Holmes shared: “We are always open and depositing love and faith into our accounts with the Bank of Life. It is the consciousness here and here alone, that is the real substance that we can draw upon to purchase every good and beautiful thing that life has in store for us.”
