The surprise generosity of two Kennewick Dutch Bros baristas has gone viral after it left tails wagging at a local animal shelter.

Benton-Franklin Humane Society volunteer Julie Saraceno always records her days with the dogs, so she had the video rolling when she stopped by the Dutch Bros on Columbia Drive on Sunday.

She explained to baristas Bailey and Jazz that she wanted three pup cups to give to the adoptable dogs.

They surprised her with a can of whipped cream, a large plastic cup with dog biscuits and enough cups to make sure all 35 dogs in the shelter got to have one.

“It was a genuine surprise and good deed they did as fellow dog lovers,” Saraceno told the Tri-City Herald.

Saraceno included video of the dogs excitedly getting their whipped cream treat.

The graphic designer and social media manager started a TikTok channel in 2020, which has expanded to Instagram, Facebook, Threads and YouTube.

She has more than 300,000 followers between her outlets. She uses the platforms to spread word about dogs that need homes at the shelter.

“I’ve always been a huge dog lover,” she said. “I had wanted to be a veterinarian since I was in kindergarten. But since I didn’t want to do the extra college, I ended up transferring that energy and love into advocating.”

The video showing her surprise has more than 1 million likes across all of the platforms that Saraceno posts on. It caught the attention of People magazine and fellow pet lovers “We Rate Dogs.”

“Dutch Bros employees surprised a shelter volunteer with enough pup cups for every dog in the shelter. 13/10 for all,” the We Rate Dogs post said.

It also caught the attention of the Dutch Bros account on TikTok, which responded, “Didn’t plan on crying today but here we are.”

Saraceno returned to the Dutch Bros stand on Wednesday with large tips for the two baristas. The company is also partnering with Saraceno to give away 50 packages of pup cups for shelters.

“With so much sadness in the world lately, I have been quite down. This was such a great thing to happen and reminded me there are good people in the world,” Saraceno said.
