March events at Prosser’s Clore center

Washington state’s largest wine grape-producing region is the focus this month at Prosser’s Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center.

The Columbia Valley American viticultural area, or AVA, is home to most of the state’s wine producers and contains numerous sub-AVAs, including Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain and Yakima Valley.

Staff at the Clore center have sourced wines from the general Columbia Valley AVA and not its sub-AVAs for its March tastings. The tasting room, located at 2140A Wine Country Road, is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

And if you’re looking for something with a little more substance, the Clore center’s Casual Culinary Series continues at 6 p.m. March 17 with Irish-inspired offerings.

Chef Kristin Johnson of Martilla’s Kitchen will go through three recipes during the event. Cost to attend is $35 per person in advance, or $40 on the day of the event.

Attendees will be offered a glass of wine or beer and small plates of the prepared food as well as copies of recipes to take home.
