New owners revamp menu at Marineland Village restaurant in Kennewick
A staple of Kennewick’s breakfast and lunch scene has new owners, a new name and new menu.
Ryan and Kara Vogt took over the Village Deli and Cafe, now called the Village Bistro, from founder LaDonna Wilhelm on Feb. 1. The restaurant has been located in the Marineland Village development at the corner of Edison Street and Clearwater Avenue since Wilhelm opened it in 1988.
Ryan Vogt works at Tri-City Court Club but Kara Vogt has a culinary background, having worked in several restaurants. They bought the restaurant as a way to give back to the community through good food.
“We’re focusing on hearty breakfasts and soul-satisfying lunches,” Ryan Vogt said.
The Village Bistro will continue offering breakfast and lunch, but the new owners have announced a revamped menu. The Vogts hired a baker to craft fresh pastries, such as scones and cookies.
Breakfast options include standards such as biscuits and gravy as well as Belgian waffles and several egg scrambles.
The extensive sandwich list includes the California Turkey, the Alpine Dipper and the Vegetarian. Two new offerings, the Gouda Good Grilled Cheese, which features smoked gouda, cheddar and cream cheese as well as herbed butter on the outside, and the Chili Lime Chicken Torta, have been very popular so far, Ryan Vogt said.
And for those needing a little extra incentive to pay a visit, the Village Bistro will celebrate National Pi Day on March 14 by providing a free slice of pie with every breakfast and lunch order as long as slices last.
Most menu items are priced between $9 to $11. Hours are 8 to 11 a.m. for breakfast and lunch is served until 3 p.m. weekdays. Saturday hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The restaurant is at 5215 W. Clearwater Ave., Suite 114. It also offers to-go for pickup. Call 509-735-8584.
