  • Funds will cover a replacement vent hood, construction downtime and reconfiguration.

The Tri-Cities community has rallied behind the Emerald of Siam in their quest to secure $100,000 to cover the cost of kitchen repairs and loss of business over the course of unexpected kitchen repairs.

As of Tuesday, July 14, the local Thai restaurant has hit their goal, according to both their Facebook and the GoFundMe that has been organized to support their efforts.

Donation efforts started in May when the restaurant announced they needed to replace the vent hood in the kitchen. The GoFundMe money will be spent to cover the cost of equipment, downtime and needing to reconfigure the kitchen to fit the new hood.

The bill came just as they were recovering from being forced to temporarily close for electrical upgrades required by the city.

The restaurant, which first opened in 1983, is located at 1314 Jadwin St., Richland. It was the first Thai restaurant in the Tri-Cities, according to the GoFundMe, and hosts a variety of music artists and drag shows.

Their menu consists of Peanut Curry Noodles, with red curry, peanut sauce and green onion, and the Royal Cashew dish, with pineapple, bell pepper, onion and cashews, plus other veggie options, appetizers and more.
