Beloved Tri-Cities restaurant closes after 34 years + New wine tasting room opens
After more than three decades serving the Tri-Cities, Henry’s Restaurant has closed.
Henry’s began in Richland 34 years ago, and had a Kennewick location for 10 years until 2002. Their main restaurant moved to West Richland and has been there ever since, owners Dan and Nancy Karger said in a social media post.
“We cannot express our thanks to the Tri City Community for the support over these many years,” they wrote. “We have made so many friends and have gotten to know so many people that have enriched our lives due to our business we considered it an honor to be able to have done this.”
While the restaurant, at 4806 W. Van Giesen St., is closing, they’ll continue running their catering business. Dan Karger said the reason for closing was that their lease has ended, and they couldn’t work out new terms.
“We are looking forward to a little slower pace in our life with just the catering, and having more time so spend with friends and family,” he wrote.
Musser Bros. will be hosting an auction for the restaurant equipment and furnishings on Oct. 10. Bidding is open now.
Popcorn
KC Brand Kettle Corn has been a staple in the Tri-Cities for almost two decades, and now they’re finally opening their own storefront.
The gourmet popcorn brand has been servings the Tri-Cities at fundraisers and events since 2004. Their new storefront, called Popcorn Northwest, now has signs up.
They’re hoping to open this fall at 624 George Washington Way in Richland.
They will be in the same strip as the Graze sandwich and salad restaurant in front of the new Park Place Apartments.
Owner Jeramy Schultz said they will continue doing the fundraisers and mobile events they’ve become known for under the KC brand.
Tasting Room
Elk Haven Winery is hosting a two-day celebration to mark the opening of its tasting room and vineyard on Red Mountain.
The tasting room, on the southwest slope of Red Mountain, has a sweeping view of Horse Heaven Hills, the Yakima River and Rattlesnake Mountain, according to a news release from the winery.
The celebration is set for Oct. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. They’re also open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Initial offerings from Elk Haven’s Single Tree Vineyard include Riesling, and a Gewürztraminer/Grüner Veltliner blend grown in Worley, Idaho, according to the news release. They also have a red selection, which includes a 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Winemaker Ellie Zeron will lead English and Spanish language vineyard tours in the warmer months alongside year-round guided tasting sessions.
Elk Haven Winery is at 34101 N. Demoss Rd. in Benton City.
Cheese steaks
Brother’s Cheese Steaks is officially open in their new home.
The Tri-Cities favorite made the move from its longtime home at the Pasco Specialty Kitchen to a home of their own earlier this month.
They’ve been a favorite among Tri-Cities foodies for years.
They’re at 8524 W. Gage Blvd., across from Costco. Hours are in flux as they work through their soft openings, but you can check their Facebook page daily for times. Their normal hours will be 10 or 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
They’ll also be opening a secondary location in the Public Market at Columbia River Warehouse, which is open Friday to Sunday in Fall and Winter, and Thursday to Sunday in spring and summer.
They’re also offering delivery through local service Tri-Cities Food Force.
