2nd Popeye’s chicken restaurant coming to Tri-Cities. And new Mexican eatery opens

While construction has been underway for the first Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen in the Tri-Cities, another has been in the works.

The exterior shell of the future Kennewick Popeye’s is already shaping up at the intersection of Highway 395 where Clearwater Avenue and Vista Way meet.

Construction is well under way on the Kennewick location of Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen.

Construction is moving quickly for the 2,333-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru. It’s being built at the former home of West Coast Auto Dealers.

Crews were still tearing out the old building on the lot at the beginning of March. While an opening date has not yet been set for that location, Tri-Citians could get a taste of the flavors that launched the “Chicken Sandwich Wars” in 2019.

Another location

While work has been progressing on the Kennewick Popeye’s, the company has also been working on permitting for a Pasco location. The initial filings came last summer and then hit a lull in early December.

The City of Pasco granted approval last week, and construction could soon begin on a 2,304-square-foot restaurant with drive-thru in west Pasco.

The Pasco Popeye’s will be at 5814 Road 68, near the Sandifur Crossing shopping center at Sandifur Parkway and Road 68. There are no buildings currently on the lot.

Tacos Super Uno

There’s a new taco shop in town. Tacos Super Uno has opened up in the old Bruchi’s Cheesesteak & Subs building at 2417 W Kennewick Ave. While the street sign for Bruchi’s hasn’t been removed yet, Tacos Super Uno is open and also hiring.

Diners might be familiar with the name, as they began with a food truck specializing in tacos, burritos and tortas.

Bruchi’s recently moved a short distance away to a new building with a drive-thru at 2615 W. Kennewick Ave. Baskin-Robbins also moved a short distance from its old home by Gold’s Gym to open in the other half of the new building at the beginning of April.
