Tri-Cities baker and brewer team up to support Ukraine. Baskin-Robbins gets new home
Spring is here, and with it are a variety of new tastes for foodies in the Tri-Cities. From a new location for an ice cream shop to a one of a kind cheese tasting experience, there’s something new everyone can enjoy.
Baskin-Robbins
Baskin-Robbins has officially opened in its new location.
The Kennewick ice cream shop has moved from its longtime home next to Gold’s Gym to a new location.
The new shop is a short distance away to 2617 W. Kennewick Ave. next to the new Bruchi’s Cheesesteak at Subs.
A new tenant for their former Highland Center location has not yet been announced.
Ethos
Ethos Bakery has a new granola with profits going to help Ukraine.
The Fields of Gold Granola is made from spent grain from Moonshot Brewing in Kennewick.
It’s part of a nationwide fundraising effort by bakeries called #BakeForUkraine. Proceeds benefit Bakehouse, a sourdough bakery in Kiev that is distributing free bread to the Ukranian people.
The granola will be sunflower and apricot flavored, featuring spent grain from Moonshot’s Blue and Yellow Brew — also supporting Ukraine.
Sage Brewing
Sage Brewing Company at Hanson Park has opened its kitchen.
The popular taproom now has a limited menu featuring items such as snacks, flatbreads and sliders.
They’re also bringing in food trucks several nights a week at both their Hanson Park and Pasco locations
Some of the beers currently on tap at the Kennewick Taphouse include Ned’s Red, Scott’s Tot and Cryo Chronicle.
Raclette cheese
Amber Lilly Event Rentals is offering a new experience to their catering menu.
The Raclette Melt Experience is a cheesy good time. Anyone who enjoys cooking shows has probably seen menus that include indulgent, melting cheese, and now they can bring that to their Tri-Cities wedding or event.
Raclette is the name of both the cheese and the method used.
The experience starts with either a baguette or potatoes, a chef then takes part of a wheel of heated raclette cheese and scrapes a flowing portion of melted cheese over the base.
The company describes raclette as salty, slightly sweet and with a slightly nutty flavor not unlike Gruyere.
It also has an edible, flavorful rind. The experience is available for catering events serving 20 to 200 people or at pop-up events exclusively at Red Mountain Kitchen in downtown Kennewick.
Mid-Columbia Wine and Spirits
Mid-Columbia Wine and Spirits has been sold. The store, which bills itself as one of the largest beer, wine and spirits stores in Washington is under new ownership, but will not be rebranding.
The company has two Tri-Cities locations, and has been in operation since 2012. They were voted Best Liquor Store by Herald readers in 2018.
In addition to a wide selection of beer, wine and spirits, they also offer high-end, rare bottles, 26 taps to fill growlers, party supplies and a tasting bar.
Their Richland location is at 1711 George Washington Way, Ste. 399. The Kennewick store is at 731 N. Columbia Center Blvd.
