Guy Fieri loved this Tri-Cities cafe. They’re opening a 2nd — near a new champagne bar
Update: This story has been updated to show Ethos is now expecting to open at the end of the week.

One of the most popular bakeries in the Tri-Cities is opening its second cafe.
Ethos Bakery & Cafe on Keene Road expects to open Friday, Oct. 23 in The Parkway off George Washington Way in Richland.
Two years ago, celebrity chef Guy Fieri was in the Tri-Cities filming for his popular TV show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
He featured the savory and sweet offerings of Ethos’ chef and co-owner Angela Kora.
This year, the business is celebrating its ninth year.
“We’ve seen our fair share of ups and downs over time, with 2020 being an exceptional roller coaster ride for so many reasons,” she posted recently on Facebook.
“... We feel honored and frankly lucky, that in a year where so many beloved establishments are struggling or even closing for circumstances outside of their control, we get to take on projects that wouldn’t be possible without you — our customers, our friends, our family.”
The new Richland location will be a full-scale coffee shop with indoor and outside seating and will serve pastries and bread baked at its Keene Road kitchen.
Grab-and-go soups and sandwiches also are planned.
Champagne, wine bar
Right next door on The Parkway in Richland is a new Champagne and wine bar.
Marc and Kaitilin Newman opened the doors to the Wine Social at 702 The Parkway last week.
Marc Newman brings his 20-plus years in the consulting and marketing business to open the shop that features hundreds of bottles of wine and bubbles.
Newman also is the former manager of The Kitchen at Barnard Griffin.
The Newmans arrived in Tri-Cities four years ago, and wanted to create a place where people could not only find Washington wines, but also wines he’s experienced from Italy, France and Spain.
“Wines taste the same wherever you are,” he said. “You go where you go because of how it makes you feel.”
He has made his best attempt to turn the Wine Social into a place that’s inviting.
Their logo features four people — himself, his wife and their two children.
“We want to be approachable to everyone,” Newman said. “It’s fermented grape juice — it’s not too complicated.”
The answer to that is to have a bar of wines and bubbles on tap, with all wines by the glass costing $8 and sparking wine priced at $11.
Bottles start at $16 and go up to a few hundred dollars each. The price per bottle is the same whether consumed on premise or taken home.
Several of his favorite small plates are sold alongside the wines including a mini quiche tray.
A private room with a private bar also is available for rent for small events.
Wine Social is open noon to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
Coffee drive-thru
Spurs Coffee has new owners and a new name — Evergreen Coffee Co.
The coffee drive-thrus are at 2802 W. 10th Ave. in Kennewick across from Fred Meyer in the same lot as Jiffy Lube, as well as 1205 Thayer Drive in Kennewick.
Jennifer Duggins, fiance of the former owner, recently bought the Richland location, and Alivia Carrillo bought the Kennewick site, where she worked for seven years.
The Northwest-inspired name comes with a new menu featuring coffee drinks like the Sasquatch, Hendrix and the Rainier.
Both locations have muffins, cookies and stuffed bagels among other food items.
The drive-thrus are open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and available for delivery on Tri-Cities Food Dudes.
