Custom BBQ kitchen rolls into Tri-Cities. New place for Graze and more dining news
13 Bones Urban BBQ is cooking up its grub in a new high-tech mobile kitchen, specially built in Missouri and driven across the country.
Castle Event Catering showed off its new one-of-a-kind truck this week.
The 13 Bones Urban BBQ food truck will feed crowds at events and fill pre-ordered meals for a whole family.
Their specialty is an apple cherry-wood-smoked tri tip.
They keep their menu lively with rotating smoked meat specials such as brats and whole pigs. Their house-made sauces include a Horse Heaven blueberry sauce, grilled peach barbecue sauce, a spicy rattlesnake white sauce and their signature Drew’s Mustard Brew.
Choose from sides such as macaroni and cheese, lime aioli corn, casseroles and fruit cobblers.
Eight years ago they started serving at the Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo and, “We have been having fun with it ever since,” said founder Kathy Craig.
That evolved into a vision for a custom-designed truck with side doors that fold back to expose a shiny, stainless steel kitchen where you can watch the action.
A Missouri company built their school-bus-yellow kitchen, and they recently drove it to the Tri-Cities across eight states.
They still need a stamp of approval from health officials and state Labor & Industries before starting to serve sometime in October.
“Urban barbecue embraces all types of barbecue and that’s what makes it fun for us,” Craig said.

▪ Graze - A Place To Eat will be moving from Richland’s The Parkway to just around the corner.
The shop will be putting down new roots at the south end of the newly built Park Place, 610 George Washington Way.
An exact move into the high-profile development that includes a mix of street-front shops and luxury apartments next to Howard Amon Park and the Columbia River waterfront.
Graze is a favorite for its handcrafted soups, paninis and salads.
Graze’s Richland The Parkway location is its newest of three restaurants — the other two are in Kennewick and its flagship store is in Walla Walla. It also has a drive-thru location for quick service in Walla Walla.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. For full menu options, go to grazeplaces.com.
▪ Black is Beautiful is now being poured as several breweries throughout Tri-Cities.
The new chocolate coffee stout made for a cause is a collaboration between Moonshot Brewing in Kennewick, Sage Brewing Company in Pasco, Atomic Ale Brewpub & Eatery in Richland and Ice Harbor Brewery in Kennewick, as well as Rockabilly Roasting Co. in Kennewick, which donated Ethopian beans for the brew.
The beer is being served at all four breweries as part of a nationwide initiative to raise awareness for the injustices people of color face in every day life. The effort was spearheaded by Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio, Texas.
The company encouraged breweries across the U.S. to join the #BlackIsBeautifulBeer campaign, and provided the base recipes and branding support for breweries to put their own spin on the effort.
The Tri-Cities group is donating 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales of the local Black is Beautiful stout to the Tri-Cities Diversity and Inclusion Council.
The nonprofit focuses on fostering a unified community, embracing cultures and celebrating diversity through education, advocacy and the promotion of cultural competence and compassion.
▪ The Original Pancake House at 3717 Plaza Way in Kennewick has closed until the beginning of Phase 3 of Washington’s reopening plan.
When the Herald called the Kennewick restaurant, a prerecorded message alerted customers of closure and redirected callers to the Richland location at 424 Keene Road.
Messages left for a Tri-City manager and the local franchise owner’s office were not immediately returned.
The Original Pancake House has more than 100 locations across the U.S. The same franchise owner that oversees the two in Tri-Cities also has five others throughout Washington and one in New York.
The Richland Original Pancake House, 424 Keene Road, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
