Smuggler Sisters expands its hours
Smuggler Sisters Family Ice Cream on Highway 20 in Sedro-Woolley expanded its hours in early June to 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
The shop, which reopened in April after being closed for the winter, previously operated on a limited schedule, with it being open two to three days a week.
Along with expanded hours, the shop is now offering house-roasted espresso drinks.

NW Plus Credit Union awards scholarships
NW Plus Credit Union recently awarded $23,500 in scholarships through its Scholarship+ program and its partnership with the Skagit Valley College Foundation to eight students in Skagit and Snohomish counties.
Through the Scholarship+ program, six students received a total of $19,500 to help offset the costs of tuition, books and other educational expenses.
The credit union also awarded two $2,000 scholarships through the Skagit Valley College Foundation to support second-year students pursuing degrees or certificates in the Industrial Technology and Transportation programs at Skagit Valley College.
In a Wednesday news release, NW Plus Credit Union CEO Torrie Ramos said, "Supporting education is a natural extension of our mission. We are incredibly proud of this year's scholarship recipients and inspired by their dedication, perseverance, and ambition."
