TNA Wrestling Releases Legendary Talent in Surprise Move

TNA Wrestling has parted ways with yet another notable wrestler in a surprise development.

Tommy Dreamer, who was in his third stint with TNA Wrestling, announced that he has parted ways with the promotion. Dreamer returned to the company for a third stint in 2018, working as a producer and a member of the creative team.

Dreamer made the announcement during an appearance on Busted Open Radio (h/t Fightful.com):

"All relationships come to an end. I had a great conversation with (TNA President) Carlos Silva. Me and TNA are no longer in a relationship," Dreamer said. "We mutually agreed to part ways. It's hard. I've given so much of my life to that company.

"I don't have any ill will or malice. I wanted to survive and be the best I can be. It was a 24 hour job and I had it for ten years. Everything comes to an end. I know I'll be okay. I hope TNA will be okay. There are no issues or malice. At this time, we just need to take a break."

Yesterday, TNA parted ways with former world champion Tessa Blanchard after she requested her release. This came one week after the company released Myla Grace and another former world champion, Steve Maclin.

Dreamer's first TNA stint lasted one year from 2010 to 2011. He returned to the promotion in 2013 for two more years, making sporadic appearances for WWE along the way.

His third tenure with TNA began in 2018. Dreamer won the now-defunct TNA Digital Media Championship at Victory Road 2023, defeating Kenny King in a singles bout. This would be Dreamer's lone championship in TNA.

Tommy Dreamer Made His Name in ECW Before Joining TNA

Dreamer was instrumental in putting the ECW promotion on the map in the '90s and early 2000s. He held the ECW World Heavyweight Championship twice and captured the Hardcore Championship 14 times, the sixth-most in history.

Having turned 55 in February, it's anybody's guess if Dreamer will look at lacing up the wrestling boots again. But his career track record and resume should make him attractive for other backstage promotions.
