In the text overlay, the rescue also said, "Sal hopes someone special will notice him soon," and included a link to adopt him in the Los Angeles area.
On the adoption website, the team shared more details about Sal, whose full name is actually Salvador Dali, named after the famous painter. In the description, they playfully call Sal "The Enigmatic Artist of the Cat World."
"Salvador Dali isn't just a cat - he's a masterpiece," the team shared about the sweet boy. "Rescued and bottle-fed by our rescue as a tiny baby, he grew up surrounded by love and was adopted as a kitten.
Sal was previously adopted, "but somewhere in the last two years, something in his world shifted, and he was returned." The team also noted that "we've learned he carries a mysterious little trigger that can set him off when he feels overwhelmed or misunderstood."
"Since returning to our care, Salvador has shown us who he really is: playful, affectionate, and expressive," the team noted. "Salvador speaks in his own language - a mix of body cues, energy shifts, and emotion - and he's looking for someone patient and cat-savvy who's willing to learn that language with him. Once you do, we promise he's worth it. With understanding, predictability, and respect for his boundaries, Salvador blossoms into a loving, companionable boy."
They also note that Sal would be best suited for a "calm home with adults or cat-savvy people who appreciate a cat with depth, quirks, and a bit of artistic flair" because "with a name like Salvador Dali… you know he's no ordinary cat."

Why Some Shelter Cats Get Overlooked
While there are so many good cats that would make perfect companions, the main reason they may get overlooked is that they don't fit the image of the "perfect cat" people may have in mind.
"When people visit shelters or look for pets online, they often have a picture in mind: a young, playful kitten full of energy," the Mountain Guardians Animal Alliance wrote. "While kittens are undeniably adorable, many cats in shelters that don't fit that image are left behind-waiting for weeks, months, or even years for their forever homes."
Even if a cat may have imperfections, like they may have special needs, or be a senior cat, or even shy, "these overlooked cats are just as deserving, and they can be some of the most loving and loyal companions you'll ever meet."
