Nintendo Quietly Removes Information About 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' Remake

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was the headliner for Nintendo's June Nintendo Direct, closing out the show on a high note and also confirming previous Nintendo Switch 2 leaks.

The very brief trailer confirmed its existence, gave a first look at the art style, and gave a release window. Nintendo teased a little bit more information on its official site, but now, that description has been changed.

Now, the description of the game on the official site just reads, "The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!"

Captured by Nintendo Everything, the previous description of the game read, "The N64 classic reborn as a full remake for Nintendo Switch 2. Experience Ocarina of Time with stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay."

It seems Nintendo wants to keep any additional information about the game as close to the chest as possible for now, possibly due to the previous leaks from NateTheHate, or because Nintendo wants to be careful about using the words "full remake," as that is probably the biggest change from the original wording.

The new visuals were briefly teased in the reveal trailer, which moved away from the art styles of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom in favor of the more realistic style from older Zelda games, like Twilight Princess and the original Ocarina of Time.

Besides the change in game description, no new information has been revealed officially or leaked regarding The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.

The release window for the Ocarina of Time remake is sometime in 2026. It was leaked by NateTheHate that Nintendo wanted to use this game as its big holiday release. Given Nintendo's past patterns of releasing only one big game a month, and with Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launching in September, it seems that the game will likely launch in November or December.

Many publishers have been avoiding releasing their games in November this year due to the looming competitive threat of the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is in development and will be released sometime in 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
