Christian Pulisic Girlfriend: Sydney Sweeney Rumors, Ugly Breakup
The United States Men's National Team kicks off its 2026 World Cup in a Group D matchup against Paraguay on Friday night.
The United States side defeated Paraguay 2-1 in a tightly-contested friendly in November 2025.
In the 2022 World Cup, the USMNT advanced out of the group stage, but was stopped in the first round by the Netherlands. This time around, the team is expected to advance out of group stage and is the favorite to win Group D over Turkey, Paraguay and Australia - though the odds between the U.S. and Turkey are close.
As the first game of the World Cup for the U.S. draws near, team leader Christian Pulisic, who wears the No. 10, is back in the headlines.
Christian Pulisic Split From Girlfriend Alexa Melton
In early April, Alexa Melton implied that the two had broken up and alleged he was on a dating app while they were together.
In response to the comment, "This generational fumble will be studied for years to come," Melton wrote in a since-deleted comment, "Mans was on Raya before it even ended." Raya is an invite-only dating app.
In another comment, she continued, "Guess not fearing God enough. How many likes to post his Raya profile?"
She later recanted her comments.
"I've made some comments on a private matter and it's been taken out of context," Melton wrote in a since-expired Instagram Stories post on April 9. "I received false info. He is not a cheater. Any narrative beyond that is not mine."
"Out of respect for Christian's and my privacy, I will not speak further regarding the matter," Melton wrote.
In a February Time interview published in May, Pulisic refused to address the allegations and offered a simple statement.
"I only look at her in the most positive way," Pulisic he said. "She was a lot of fun, and she supported me in every way. She wanted to push me to enjoy my life a little bit more and do things with her and do things just in general. And I was grateful for that."
Rumors also emerged suggesting he was dating actress Sydney Sweeney, which grew loud enough that the soccer star was forced to address them in December 2025 when he wrote, "stop with the made up stories about my personal life" in a since-expired Instagram story post.
