If you've ever had a dog, you know they consider helping clean up after meals one of their favorite household chores. So when this Staffy named Milo was told he wouldn't be cleaning his mom's plate, he took the news about as well as you'd expect, and his priceless reaction has viewers cracking up.

Mom had just finished a plate of eggs, leaving a few bites behind that Milo was sure were headed his way. Unfortunately for him, Mom told him no. Make sure your sound is on for this one because Milo has some very dramatic opinions about being denied her leftovers, even if Mom had a good reason for saying no.

Why Are Dogs So Obsessed With Licking Plates?

Commenters left thousands of responses about Milo's dramatic reaction, and some of them had us laughing out loud. @JiX35 racked up more than 70,000 likes with, "'This house is a prison! On Planet Bullsh*t!' - Milo, probably."

@T also imagined what was going through Milo's mind: "'You don't like egg.' 'MAYBE I DO, BUT NOW WE'LL NEVER KNOW BECAUSE YOU WANNA BE SELFISH...'"

As tempting as it can be to let your dog clean up the leftovers on your plate, it's probably not the best idea. Dogs put some pretty questionable things in their mouths. They dig through trash, pick up mystery items outside, and let's just say they aren't exactly known for their stellar hygiene habits. That means there can be plenty of bacteria lurking in their mouths that you probably don't want transferred to the same plate you're eating from.

There's also the issue of food safety. Many human foods are toxic to dogs, and even foods that are generally safe can become problematic once they're cooked with seasonings, oils, garlic, onions, or other ingredients.

According to Dogster, the risks generally outweigh the benefits of letting dogs lick your dishes. If you do allow it occasionally, they recommend running those plates through the dishwasher afterward to thoroughly sanitize them with hot water and detergent before using them again.
