Grumpy Golden's Human Tried a Viral Celebrity Wellness Trend - His Face Has Thoughts
Paris Hilton said her dog lived 25 years. She credited that long life to red light therapy. One grumpy golden retriever's human heard this and immediately got to work. The golden retriever had opinions about all of it.
The TikTok from@echogoldenbear shows exactly what happens when a deeply committed dog mom meets a viral wellness trend and an equally committed grumpy golden. The caption states the mission clearly: "Making sure this old grumpy dog lives forever "
The text overlay confirms her inspiration: a celebrity's claim that her dog reached an extraordinary age thanks to regular red light sessions.

Meet Echo. He's a senior golden and he's magnificently grumpy. He's got permanent stank face that no amount of wellness technology has softened. His human is trying the red light therapy device anyway because she loves him and because Paris Hilton made a compelling case.
Echo's expression during the session: completely unchanged. He was unmoved and deeply unimpressed.
The comments knew exactly what they were witnessing:
"He might live for 25 years but the way he's looking at you, you might not "
"Side effect is increase personality spice"
"I love his permanent stank face"
"He's gonna need Botox if he keeps frowning like that!"
"No matter what you do hes always grumpy "
"We love a sassy king"
That first comment is the entire vibe. Sure, he might achieve immortality but his human may not survive the glare long enough to see it.
But beyond the face and the legendary stank energy: does red light therapy actually do anything for a senior dog?
Does Red Light Therapy Actually Work for Dogs?
According to Newsweek, the simple answer is yes. But here is the important part: it really depends on what device you are using and who's running it.
Red light therapy works by using specific light frequencies to reach underneath the skin and help the body heal. When a trained vet uses a professional-grade laser to deliver this treatment, it can genuinely help older dogs dealing with arthritis, slow-healing wounds and inflammation. Dr. Liza Cahn, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance who spoke to Newsweek, confirmed that "when delivered by a veterinarian with a therapeutic laser, photobiomodulation may be helpful" for exactly these kinds of conditions.

Here is where it gets tricky though. The devices vets use in their clinics are completely different from the LED panels and masks people can buy online. The at-home versions are lower powered, less precise and much less consistent in their results. Experts told Newsweek that device quality varies enormously and some products simply do not work.
Yana Sinkevich, founder and CEO of The Hearty Paw, told Newsweek that red light therapy has shown real potential for dogs dealing with joint pain and chronic inflammation. The issue is that the best results come from professional equipment, not the gadgets you see in viral videos.
So if you want to try this for your senior dog, the first call is to your vet. Not TikTok. Not Paris Hilton. Your vet.
Echo remains skeptical of all of it. His face has not changed. His human keeps trying anyways.
That is what loving a grumpy golden looks like. Long may he live.
