Why pugs and cats get along so well

Pugs are some of the many dog breeds that can get along with cats, but their friendship and how well they get along depend on their personalities and how they become friends in the first place.

According to Dogster, "Pugs are known for their friendly, easygoing nature," and they "love being around people and other pets." A pug's small size and overall energy level also mesh well with a cat's typical size, allowing them to keep up with each other.

Pugs are also known to be very adaptable, so they can easily adjust to a cat's "specific routines or habits" that they do throughout the day.

If a cat is already used to sharing their space with other animals, then a pug will most likely fit in with them as well. If a cat has sufficient space to maintain their independence, they're likely to get along well.

Some tips to best ensure a successful introduction is introducing them gradually and allowing them to control when they explore and meet one another. It's also important to create positive associations, so both feel comfortable around each other, and to ensure their initial interactions are supervised to prevent either from feeling uncomfortable.
