Serena Williams Partners with Factor for Healthy Meals Ahead of Tennis Comeback
Serena Williams returned to professional tennis after a four-year hiatus on Tuesday, recording a straight-sets victory alongside partner Victoria Mboko of Canada at the HSBC Championships in London.
Williams and Mboko topped Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe 7-6, 6-2. It was the 23-time Grand Slam champion's first pro match since the 2022 U.S. Open.
"I was nervous, but I didn't really think about it ... I just thought about having fun, which I did today," Williams, 44, said. "I get nervous right before the match, like 30 minutes before ... Then I just let it go."
Williams and Mboko will face Laura Siegemund of Germany and Canada's Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals of the HSBC Championships on Thursday. Williams has also confirmed she will play in the next week's Berlin Tennis Open in Germany.
It has been a busy few days for the tennis legend, who also announced a major business partnership this month.
Serena links up with Factor
On June 4, Factor, the popular ready-made meal delivery service, announced it was partnering with Williams. The union includes the new Serena Williams x Factor Collection, a rotating weekly collection of meals chosen by Williams, featuring "high-protein and GLP-1-friendly options."
"Taking care of myself isn't about following a perfect routine – it's about making choices that help me feel my best. Eating well is a big part of that," Williams said. "Factor fits naturally into my life because the meals are made with ingredients I feel good about. When I'm balancing a lot, having one less thing to think about makes a big difference."
"I've always been intentional about what I eat because performing at the highest level starts with taking care of yourself," she added. "Factor makes eating well easy with meals made from real ingredients that are ready when I am. As a busy mom and athlete, having that kind of quality and convenience is something I truly value."
