Backstage Update: Why WWE Abruptly Rescheduled Marquee Money in the Bank PPV
In an unprecedented move, WWE has rescheduled one of its premium pay-per-view shows twice.
Last year, WWE announced that Money in the Bank 2026 would be held on Aug. 29 in New Orleans, Louisiana. However, the company later announced it was moving it to Sept. 6 at the Smoothie King Center, home of the NBA's New Orleans Pelicans.
On Monday, WWE announced it was pushing back back Money in the Bank 2026 to Oct. 10, though it will still be held at the Smoothie King Center.
In an update, Fightful Select reports that Money in the Bank was moved back a second time "because of a scheduling matter with broadcast partners." The report noted that the rescheduling was "planned for well over a month."
Additionally, Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Weekly reports that the change "had more to do with the touring schedule and the production trucks would be too far away to do the PLE that day," which led to the move.
Money in the Bank Traditionally Takes Place in the Summer
With the exception of the 2019 and 2020 events (the latter was pre-recorded due to the COVID-19 pandemic), Money in the Bank has always been held in June or July.
Last year's event took place on June 7 at the Intuit Dome (home of the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers) in Inglewood, California. The previous four Money in the Bank events had taken place in July.
