Bumpy, the orphaned baby hippo, loves it when it's time to settle into his bed for the night, and it's the sweetest thing we've seen!

In a video posted to TikTok by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Bumpy couldn't wait to head to his bedroom for his nightly routine. In the video, the baby rushed into his bedroom and lay down on his bed, which had a cozy mattress on the ground and a fluffly pillow. Once he was inside, Bumpy positioned himself in the best way before he lay down and got settled in.

Bumpy loves his bedroom and bedtime! He approaches at a sprint, gives a flick of the ears, before flopping onto his mattress. After a day spent frolicking in the water, our little hippo is more than ready for a good night's sleep. In the video's caption, Bumpy's caretakers wrote about just how much Bumpy "loves his bedroom and bedtime!"

"He approaches at a sprint, gives a flick of the ears, before flopping onto his mattress," the caption read. "After a day spent frolicking in the water, our little hippo is more than ready for a good night's sleep."

The internet, of course, couldn't get enough of Bumpy's adorable bedtime routine and wrote in the comments that he was so cute and adorable.

"Bumpy is so precious," one person commented on the post. "That's the bedtime plop of a guy who enjoyed a big day. I love hearing his caretaker's delight in his cuteness and getting a glimpse of the overnight setup. Grateful for all you are doing."

Others wished Bumpy a good night and even said, "Sweet dreams" when he finally went to bed. Another said seeing Bumpy in his bed and "his ear wiggles" made for the "Perfect start to my day ."

Others thanked Bumpy's caretakers for their "efforts to keep these animals safe," with another adding, "He's going to truly thrive with the dedication of your incredible team."

What happened to Bumpy the Hippo?

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust rescued Bumpy back in May in Naivasha, Kenya, after he "tragically lost his mother."

In a post shared by the Trust, they revealed that the Kenya Wildlife Service Vet and Capture team that works with them found the poor baby "nestled beside his mother's lifeless body."

"He clearly didn't understand the situation," they wrote in their statement on their website. "He was calling out to his mother and nudging her with his blunt little nose, desperately hoping for a response."

Bumpy was then rescued and brought back to the Nairobi Nursery for further evaluation, and bonded very closely with his caretakers.

"Keeper Simon put his mattress on the ground, and the tiny hippo nestled by his side," they continued. After his terrible ordeal, he finally felt at peace and slept soundly in the crook of Simon's arm. He was clearly desperate for comfort and connection and remained glued to his Keepers from that moment onwards."

Bumpy is also known to stick close to his caretakers and follow them "around like a shadow, grunting noisily with every step."

He is a very chatty fellow and keeps up a steady stream of conversation," they added. "Being such a young baby, he rests plenty and sleeps most soundly when cuddled alongside a Keeper."
