Stream the 1988 Classic 'Bloodsport' for Free: A Top Martial Arts Movie You Can't Miss
For martial arts movie fans, seeing the incredible action as trained actors battle one another hand-to-hand onscreen is extremely thrilling. However, with the genre producing many classics, it can be hard to know which to watch and where. That is why it is so exciting that one of the best martial arts movies ever made, Bloodsport, can be streamed completely for free.
Why 'Bloodsport' Beats Serious Martial Arts Dramas as the Ultimate Rewatchable Classic
In March 2025, Stuff published an unranked list of the "25 best martial arts movies of all time," which included Jean-Claude Van Damme's 1988 star-making film Bloodsport. The outlet praised the movie for featuring martial arts action that holds up, including an "epic final showdown" between JCVD's Frank Dux and Bolo Yeung's Chong Li.
Similarly, Bloodsport was ranked as one of the "best martial arts movies from the 80s" by MovieWeb in February 2022. That outlet celebrated the movie for having memorable characters portrayed by JCVD, Yeung, Donald Gibb, and Forest Whitaker. It also noted that the movie features several unforgettable lines of dialogue that are delivered with commitment.
Throughout history, there have been some martial arts movies that have contained beautiful and compelling stories with deep meanings. Unlike Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or Fearless, which are notable examples of high-minded martial arts dramas, Bloodsport is perfect because it is a fun movie to sit back and enjoy.
Bloodsport's fun, no-frills spirit almost certainly is what inspired a fan to edit footage from the movie into a mock Mentos commercial that has nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube. It's also why the hosts of The Confused Breakfast podcast laughed uproariously while describing the character Chong Li's reaction to being randomly threatened in the movie. Most importantly, that aspect is why many people find Bloodsport to be endlessly rewatchable.
Where to Stream 'Bloodsport' for Free Right Now
For any movie to be infinitely rewatchable, there has to be a way for fans to enjoy it. Fortunately, Bloodsport is currently available to watch for free in America in multiple ways. First, Roku's website notes that the JCVD classic is available for free on the ad-supported The Roku Channel. It is also listed among Pluto TV's offerings, and that ad-supported service doesn't even require users to make an account.
There is an alternative viewing option for people who don't want to put up with ad interruptions. However, it isn't free. Instead, it gives some fans a way to watch the martial arts movie at no additional cost if they already have Prime. On June 1, Tom's Guide reported that Bloodsport was among the 71 movies that had just been added to Prime Video's library in America.
