24-Year-Old Shelter Cat Loses Home He's Had Since Kittenhood, and It's Heartbreaking
Dogs and cats wind up in a shelter for various reasons. Sometimes they are found as strays wandering the streets, while in other situations, pet parents face health issues or financial difficulties.
Pinky is a sweet black and white cat who was recently brought to NAWS Humane Society after living with his family for 24 years. The pretty kitty is understandably sad and confused at the sudden turn of events and needs a lot of love and comfort.
@franflight My jaw dropped to the floor when I heard how old Pinky was. I didn't believe that this was real. He shows his age in his teeth, eyes, and the way he walks. He eats SO great and is truly a very sweet and docile boy. If you are looking for a sweet and calm super senior, please consider adopting Pinky. You can submit a cat adoption application at nawsus.org under the tab adoption center. He isn't posted on the website since he hasn't been medically cleared for adoption yet, and we are hoping this video is enough to get him in and out of the shelter. i love you guys SO much, im sending you tons of love- thank you for helping us help Pinky. #adopt#adoptdontshop#cat#catsoftiktok#dog

The TikTok from @franflight shared Pinky's story and confirmed that the cat is 24 years old.
"Pinky is the oldest cat that has come into our rescue," the onscreen text explained as Pinky huddled in her blanket inside the kennel, then snuggled with a staff member. "His previous owners were adamant that this is his correct age since they have had him since he was a kitten."
Sadly, the only family Pinky had ever known fell on very hard times and made the difficult decision to surrender their cat.
"Pinky's family became homeless and couldn't take him where they were going," the story continued.
Despite the traumatic transition, Pinky looks much younger than his actual age. Outside of walking "a little funny", the adorable cat is in "great health".
Pinky Deserves a Forever Home
The senior cat has some signs of aging, yet his appetite remains intact, and he's very loving and affectionate. Pinky will be available for adoption once he receives medical clearance.
"He shows his age in his teeth, eyes, and the way he walks," the caption shared. "He eats SO great and is truly a very sweet and docile boy. If you are looking for a sweet and calm super senior, please consider adopting Pinky."
