Chehalis Walmart hosts 17th annual Seattle Children's Hospital Benefit Car Show Saturday

Shoppers at the Chehalis Walmart Supercenter this Saturday, June 6, will notice a number of classic cars and custom hotrods among all of their daily commuter vehicles, as part of the parking lot will be partitioned off for the 17th annual Seattle Children's Hospital Benefit Car Show.

Each year, the car show is organized by Walmart department manager Krista Wilcutt to raise money for the Seattle Children's Hospital.

Wilcutt began organizing it to benefit the Seattle Children's Hospital after being encouraged to do so by the late John Spears, who was known as the "mopar man" and a regular car show participant. Spears passed away in 2022.

The car show itself is free to attend and runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with registration for car show participants starting at 8 a.m. and costing $30 per vehicle entered.

Last year, $3,736 was raised - including $477 from one of the show's vendors, Franz Bakery, which donated its food sales profits from the company booth.

"They do that every year," Wilcutt previously told The Chronicle.

Along with Franz Bakery, a number of other local vendors and artisans set up booths at the car show every year as well.

Additionally, car show participants will be competing for various trophies which will be handed out during a ceremony at the end of the show.

The Walmart Supercenter is located at 1601 NW Louisiana Ave. in Chehalis, just west of Exit 79 on Interstate 5.
