Amazon Quietly Rolls Out Prime Day Change

June is here, and for Amazon Prime enthusiasts that means one thing: The company's Prime Day promotion is on the way. Each year, Amazon holds two key Prime Day events, one in the summer and one in the fall. While the fall event sometimes gets more attention, because it's close to the holiday season, the summer event is usually also a splash.

Now, Amazon has quietly rolled out its summer Prime Day details, including when it's set to take place and what to expect. As always, the event is packed with deals and steals but only for a limited time.

Summer 2026 Amazon Prime Day Details

Prime Day is set to take place later this month, according to the online retailer, offering "millions of exclusive deals for Prime members." As for which items are on sale, Amazon says some of the discounts are on big-ticket items, like TVs and outdoor gear, including patio furniture, trampolines and lawn mowers. Other discounts will come off smaller items, such as summer travel essentials, college supplies and back-to-school items. Yes, it's crazy to think about, but Amazon is jumping on the back-to-school trend in early June.

So, what's the quiet change this year? There's one main difference. New this year, Amazon's Alexa for Shopping is available to curate a personalized guide with alerts and recommendations, according to Amazon.

Shoppers are now able to "use Alexa for Shopping to ask questions directly in the main Amazon search bar, create personalized shopping guides for big purchases, get category and product insights in search results and on product pages, generate dynamic product comparisons, view up to a full year of price history, and automate deal-finding, cart-building, and routine purchases based on personalized insights," Amazon says in a statement.

When is the Summer 2026 Amazon Prime Day Event?

Amazon Prime Day sales begin at 12:01 a.m. PDT on June 23 and run through June 26. So, you have four days to snag those deals.

But not everybody can participate. You have to be a Prime member to get the offers. However, for those who want to try it out, you can get a 30-day free trial. The annual cost for most people after the trial wraps up is $139. There's also a monthly option for $14.99 and discounts available for young adults and those who qualify for government assistance.

So, yes, it seems early to get in on back-to-school and college deals. But the summer Prime Day event is really a great time to do it, plus stock up on summer and other big-ticket items.
