Gossip Girl Is Leaving Netflix on October 28

A massively popular drama series that has been a major success on Netflix is set to leave the streaming service soon. The loyal fans of Gossip Girl will be disappointed to know that the show will no longer be available to enjoy on the streaming service.

‘Gossip Girl' Is Leaving Netflix on October 28

On May 31, 2026, Kasey Moore from What's on Netflix reported that Gossip Girl is leaving Netflix on October 28, 2026. All six seasons of the hit show, which originally aired on the CW between 2007 and 2012, will be exiting on that day. The show starred Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, and Jessica Szohr.

Focused on the students of an elite private school in Manhattan's Upper East Side, the show captivated fans with its drama, betrayals, fashion, schemes, love triangles, and more. Seen from an outsider's point of view, the series also featured the central mystery that left viewers wondering something for years: Who was the titular Gossip Girl?

Gossip Girl Was One of Netflix's Biggest Drama Hits

In 2022, Paste Magazine published an article looking back at Gossip Girl's history. The outlet noted that while it wasn't a ratings behemoth, it was a hit in the sense that it had a massive effect on pop culture.

"It defined the CW during its infancy, establishing the network as a hub for teen television and making it possible for shows like The Vampire Diaries and Riverdale to thrive. It may have struggled with viewership ratings toward the start, but it didn't take long for Gossip Girl to emerge as one of the most influential and unique teen series of the 2000s and early 2010s."

Once the show arrived on Netflix, however, it became a major hit from a numbers perspective too. In May 2024, Netflix released its global "What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report." In that article, Netflix labeled Gossip Girl one of its "wildly popular" licensed titles and cited it receiving 49 million views. The fact that the company singled out the series as one of its most globally successful acquired series during that year proves it truly was one of the streaming service's biggest hits.
