TikTok Thinks This New Homeowner Should Sue the Sellers Due to Undisclosed Mold and Leaks
When you buy a home, you expect to know what you're getting into. Whether the house is a full-on fixer-upper or simply has a few small flaws, you should have been made aware of every issue during the home-buying and inspection processes.
But TikTok creator Andrew Powell (@drewpow) was in for a rude awakening after moving into his new house. He quickly discovered a few serious problems, including leaks and mold - and now, his followers are suggesting he sue the sellers. Read on for the full story.

This Home Buyer Found Leaks and Mold In His New House - and the Seller Lied About It
"We kinda have a big problem with our new house already," Powell said in the beginning of his TikTok video. He then pointed out a portion of wall in a bathroom that looked like it had been patched up to cover water leaks. According to Powell, his home inspector suggested Powell talk to the former homeowner, who told Powell that he had previously investigated the spot to see if there was a leak. He claimed that it wasn't actually a leak, but just splashes from the nearby bathtub.
However, that wasn't enough to satisfy Powell - because on the other side of the wall, outside of the bathroom, there was more water damage. So, he talked to the seller again - who finally admitted that there actually had been a leak behind the wall! The seller also admitted that there had been mold in the wall - but promised that he had completely gotten rid of it all.
But of course, Powell could no longer trust him. So, he did some digging around the bathroom, and discovered a small amount of mold in the under-sink cabinet.
Powell then started taking apart the wall by himself, and he quickly found the leak. He also hired a mold specialist who came and inspected the cabinet, and confirmed that there was "100 percent mold" there - as well as in some other parts of the house, which he connected back to the leak inside the bathroom wall. He also advised Powell that a full bathroom renovation would be necessary to fully remedy the issues.
@drewpow What do we do about this? We would never have bought this house if we knew about the mold issue..

Powell's Followers Think He Should Sue the Home's Seller
At the end of the video, Powell expressed frustration that the seller lied about the mold, and asked his viewers what he should do - and many commenters suggested taking legal action.
"Lawyer and sue sue sue," one user commented. "100% contact your realtor. 100% contact a lawyer, also. He definitely screwed you guys over," someone else wrote.
"A bathroom renovation will be anywhere from $28,000-$35,000, that's a big deal, past owner needs to be held accountable," another commenter wrote. "Realtor here, absolutely they have to disclose, hence the disclosures. Hire an attorney immediately," someone else added.
Hopefully Powell can remedy the situation soon.
