At least once a week, we see a Golden Retriever doing something hilarious on TikTok. This buddy, Pancake, might be one of the best in a while, though. He absolutely lives for his water slide and goes down it again and again, as if he has a VIP pass at Disney World.

In this clip, Pancake traverses down his stone water "slide" and then leaps off into a pool. He clearly has this execution down to a science. "POV: Your dog is obsessed with the water slides," the on-screen text confirms this pup's love for the aqua chute.

Viewers couldn't get enough of the buddy sliding and leaping. @CRSbob had a good point with, "I don't know what's cuter, him and the slide or the fact that his name is Pancake." It's an incredibly tough call.

Meanwhile, @Jodi M channeled his potential pool party friends, "I've been waiting in line for 30 minutes to slide, and someone is hogging it. What a cutie!" But it was @Sarcastic and spiritual who had the perfect line, "I'm glad my Golden boy can't watch this, he would be sooooo jealous!" No one can let their pup pup see this!

Why Golden Retrievers Are Drawn to Water

Today, these guys represent one of the most popular dog breeds in America. They're known for being loyal, friendly, and relatively easy to train. Goldens also LOVE water. All of their traits can be traced back to their origins in Scotland.

Golden Retrievers were bred to satisfy a perplexing issue for the Scottish gentlemen of the 1800s: their hunting dogs couldn't retrieve on both land and water. By mixing a few different hunters together, these gents were able to perfect this beastie who could fetch fowl from land and sea (or more accurately, ponds).

While most of our Golden babies no longer swim out into small bodies of water to grab downed ducks, they've never lost their penchant for water. Pancake seems to have proven that Golden Retrievers still have that spunk!
