I'm ready to admit that in my life, I have struggled with something very specific: side tables. Either I get the wrong kind (I recall a round one that I was constantly pushing things off of by accident) or I fail to get one at all, and end up unable to enjoy a specific spot in my house because I have nowhere to put down a drink or charge my phone while I'm sitting there.
So when I see a great end table now, I jump - especially if it's anywhere in the vicinity of "affordable." And, dear readers, I have just found a truly great one.
CHIC HOUSE End Tables for Living Room with Charging Station, $99.87 at Walmart
There are a number of attributes that make the aptly named CHIC HOUSE End Table stand out. For one, it is shaped precisely to do its job - that is, sit at the end of something and hold stuff - and do it well. At 28" inches deep (PSA: that's a lot deeper than most end tables), it will run alongside the full depth of your couch, offering extra room both as a table and a storage spot. Plus, this compact, rectangular table can fit in even the smallest room, offering a unique way to make practical use of space that would otherwise be wasted.

This farmhouse-style table is also smartly designed. It knows what you really want (to charge your phone while you scroll on your phone), and is game to make that happen. It features a hidden charging station with two AC outlets, one USB-A port, and one USB-C port, unseen but fully usable for guests with all manner of devices.
Storage Space Aplenty
But this isn't just a charging station. The piece offers more storage space than you'd think given its slim design. It has cabinet storage - which features two shelves for easy organization - drawer storage, and even extra shelf storage on its back side.
Inside the smooth-sliding top drawer, you'll find a cup holder. This allows you to open the drawer and place your drink down, so that you don't knock it off the table while gesticulating mid-conversation (or, perhaps more realistically, just stretching). If you prefer to use the space for something else, the drink-holder is removable.

If your end table isn't backed against a wall, you can also use the back-facing drawers as bookshelves, which can be a cute aesthetic choice as well as a supremely practical one. Prefer a larger, more open storage solution? This table's gotchu - the shelves are removable.
Affordable End Tables Are A Dime a Dozen
If you've been victimized by spotting a great end table and then realizing it was over $200, you are not alone. It's rare to see one that meets the high bar of cute plus functional plus worth less than one arm and one leg. My advice? Now that you've found this one, don't let it get away.
