A Massive Post-Apocalyptic Franchise Staple
On May 31, 2026, Kasey Moore of What's on Netflix reported on five major shows that will be departing Netflix during the second half of 2026. The first of those series to exit will be Fear the Walking Dead. All eight seasons of the show will be leaving the streaming service on August 19, 2026. A wildly successful spin-off of The Walking Dead, the zombie horror show featured many highly talented actors, including Colman Domingo, Kim Dickens, and Cliff Curtis.
The Definitive '90s Comedy Sensation
October 1, 2026, will be a dark day for the popular streaming service because all nine seasons of Seinfeld will be leaving Netflix. Widely regarded as one of the most iconic shows in television history, it won 10 Emmy Awards, including several acting awards and the biggest honor it was in the running for, Outstanding Comedy Series. Additionally, Variety once named it the eighth greatest TV show of all time, and Rolling Stone ranked it the sixth best TV show ever. Because the series made such a huge mark on pop culture, it turned its stars, Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards, and Jason Alexander, into television legends.
The Long-Running, Critically Acclaimed Premium Drama
After many years of the comedy-drama being available to stream on the service, all 11 seasons of Shameless will depart Netflix on October 11, 2026. Adapted from a beloved series from the U.K., the show focused on the Gallagher family, one of television's most unique clans ever. Highlighted by intelligent writing, it was also buoyed by incredible performances from William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Jeremy Allen White, Cameron Monaghan, and Noel Fisher.
The Iconic Early-2000s Teen Culture Phenomenon
After airing on the CW from 2007 until 2012, Gossip Girl became available to stream on Netflix. However, that is coming to an end as the series will be gone as of October 28, 2026. The teen drama was extremely popular at its peak as fans wanted to know what would happen next and who the titular Gossip Girl was. It starred Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, and Jessica Szohr.
The Defining Modern Television Thriller
The last of the five hugely popular departing shows that will leave Netflix this year is an acclaimed thriller series created by Shonda Rhimes. All seven seasons of Scandal are exiting on December 17, 2026, which means there is still time for fans and new viewers to binge it before then. Focused on a crisis management group that helps the rich and powerful keep their controversies under wraps, the series captivated viewers for years and earned many awards. Part of the reason for that is because it boasted an incredible cast, which featured Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn, Bellamy Young, Jeff Perry, Joe Morton, Katie Lowes, Scott Foley, and Guillermo Díaz.
