Why Maine Coon Kittens Are So Vocal
Though many kitties are very vocal, as we've seen in some hilarious videos, Maine Coons are considered one of the most talkative cat breeds.
Not only are they very vocal, but they also have distinct sounds and forms of communicating compared to other cat breeds.
They tend to make meows, chirps, and trills.
The chirps or trills usually come out when they're excited, such as maybe when they see a bird or squirrel out the window, and the meows are more an indication of wanting something like food or attention.
As for why Maine Coons are a chatty type of cat, according to Aspen Maine Coons, they are a very intelligent breed, and they learn quickly that certain sounds they make produce responses, so they continue to use and refine them.
Maine Coons, with their large size, were also bred to work on farms and ships, and they needed communication, and these quiet but notable sounds helped them work with each other.
They also vocalize a lot in order to form strong bonds with their human companions.
Their sounds also show that they're a confident breed that can communicate without screaming at the top of their lungs.
We have a feeling Bean is going to be one confident Maine Coon cat.
