Tiny 1.3-Pound Rescue Puppy's Adorable Bald Little Head Is Stealing Hearts
An "angel baby" is getting a second chance at life thanks to the selfless dog rescuers at the Cleft Rescue Unit (CRU), a dog rescue specializing in helping dogs with cleft palates and special needs.
CRU's latest rescue is a 1.3-pound, 7-week-old Mastiff/Weimaraner mix who needs some love - and a name. Rescuers are highlighting his case with an adorable social media video showcasing the important work they do while also inadvertently showing off the little pup's sweet bald spot, courtesy of a recent ultrasound.
@crurescue Please welcome our newest CRU baby. He is a Mastiff/ Weimaraner mix that is currently only 1.3 lbs at 7 weeks. We have a lot to figure out for this baby but I'm so hopeful we will get to watch a transformation as he gets stronger and healthier Please send him all the love and your perfect name suggestion for our tiny angel baby

In the video, one of CRU's rescuers explains she's a "sucker" for a "complex" case, and this little Mastiff mix is exactly that. At only 1.3 pounds, the dog could eventually grow to 120 pounds as an adult - but not without proper care.
"He is a Mastiff/Weimaraner mix that is currently only 1.3 lbs at 7 weeks. We have a lot to figure out for this baby, but I'm so hopeful we will get to watch a transformation as he gets stronger and healthier Please send him all the love and your perfect name suggestion for our tiny angel baby," CRU shared while explaining the puppy's condition.
Name suggestions quickly poured in from viewers excited to become part of the dog's naming journey. Suggestions ranged from Baldwin and Barney to Maximus and Rocket.
But viewers also couldn't help but notice the tiny dog's bald spot at the top of his head. His rescuer explained the bald patch was the result of a recent ultrasound, which required part of the puppy's head to be shaved.
The bald spot may somehow make this tiny pup even cuter - as if that were possible.

How Cleft Rescue Unit Is Changing Lives
Cleft Rescue Unit is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping dogs with special needs and cleft palates. Featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show, CRU was founded in 2003 and focuses on helping medically fragile puppies in hopes of eventually finding them forever homes.
Inspired by the founder's daughter's own cleft palate, CRU's mission is to educate both children and adults about craniofacial differences in dogs and humans while collaborating with healthcare agencies to provide these special dogs with the help they need and deserve.
