Plex Quietly Adds 10 New Free Live Channels for Customers
Plex made headlines earlier this month when the streaming platform raised its lifetime price from $249.99 to $749.99 – a raise of $500 that tripled the price, which the company claimed was necessary.
"When Plex first started, we were movie and TV fans who wanted to make something great for people like us. We chose to offer a lifetime subscription early on because we knew many of our customers would rather pay a higher one-time fee for software that they can depend on every day," the company said in a statement.
Now the streaming platform is back in the headlines with a new offering.
10 Free Live Channels Coming to Plex
Plex is adding 10 new channels, broadening its lineup of free, ad-supported channels.
CordCutter News revealed the new channels promise, "Whether relaxing with a baking competition after dinner or diving into a late-night horror marathon, the updated Plex library offers something for nearly every mood and preference."
Here are the 10 new channels:
- Heartland
- Murdoch Mysteries
- Lawless
- A&E Live PD Greatest Shifts
- Live PD
- A&E Alaska Troopers
- Frightflix
- I Shouldn't Be Alive
- Cesar's Pack Leader TV
- The Great Britain Baking Channel
Plex Recently Added 13 New Channels
The news comes just a week after the streaming platform added 13 new channels running the gamut from dramatic storytelling and classic films to science, survival challenges, health topics, gardening, cooking, and more.

Plex initially began as a freeware hobby project in 2007, but after receiving robust funding and additional leadership, the company quickly emerged as a player in the streaming landscape and now boasts more than 25 million global users.
