Garmin has long been one of the top brands for sports watches. Its latest offering is designed to bring in a new group of people who may not be as familiar with either sports watches or running.

The Forerunner 170 is designed to be easy to use from the start, with a 1.2-inch AMOLED display that's beautiful and intuitive. You'll find both a responsive touchscreen and a traditional five-button design to navigate the watch's functions. Those functions include the basics like GPS, time, distance, pace and wrist-based heart rate, plus a number of running-specific options. The Garmin Coach training plans will help you with the big picture, crafting daily suggested workouts (and recovery days) that incorporate health and recovery metrics. Besides running, the watch can also track dozens of other activities from swimming to strength training, and the health and wellness monitoring offers advanced measurements of your body beyond the workout, like sleep tracking. You can use Garmin Pay for contactless payment, and with the 170 Music version, download songs and podcasts to listen to on the run. You'll also get excellent battery life, with 13 days in smartphone mode and up to 23 hours with GPS.

Whether you're looking to start a running program or train for a marathon, you'll find plenty to love about this feature-packed watch.
