One of the most entertaining things about dogs is that sometimes, they're just like us. For one Golden Retriever pup, it seems he's waiting for no one when it comes to having his perfect pool day.

In a TikTok video shared by user @jackdainelthegoldenone, a 2-year-old Golden Retriever named Jack Daniel helps himself to everything he needs to create a relaxing Saturday afternoon in his backyard pool.

The clip opens with Jack Daniel racing toward the pool storage area and returning moments later with his chosen float - a blue inflatable lounger featuring a pattern of paws and dog bones. Based on the design, it appears this may be Jack Daniel's own personal float.

Without any sign of difficulty or struggle, the excited pup drags his raft to the water's edge and carefully positions it halfway into the crystal-blue water. Next, he places his front paws atop the float, then tucks his hindquarters into his vessel as he pushes off the edge.

The video concludes with Jack Daniel looking back at the camera as he floats toward the middle of the pool, appearing quite proud of his perfect execution of pool day.

Honestly, he looks like an actual human setting up his own relaxing afternoon at the pool after a long week of work. The entire routine is flawless from start to finish, indicating that this is something this pup does on the regular. "He knew exactly what he was doing ," confirmed one entertained viewer in the comments.

Tips for Safely Sharing the Pool With Your Dog

Swimming in the pool is a favorite summertime activity for many humans and their four-legged companions. While not every breed or every dog is a fan of pool time, for those that are, it is important to ensure that safety measures are in place. According to Chewy.com, the following tips can help ensure that your pup enjoys living his best pool life while staying safe.

  • Keep the pool area secure. Use a pool fence or alarm to prevent dogs from wandering into the water unsupervised.
  • Introduce pool time gradually. Like children, some pups may be fearful or anxious about swimming. Begin with short sessions and slow introductions to help build your pup's comfort and confidence.
  • Show your dog the exit. Practice using the steps so your pup knows exactly where to go if they become tired or stressed.
  • Always supervise swim sessions. Dogs can tire unexpectedly, and should never be left unattended in or around water.
  • Rinse and dry your dog afterward. Pool chemicals may irritate a pup's skin, eyes, and ears, so a quick rinse and dry will help prevent discomfort and infections.
  • Discourage drinking pool water. Too much chlorinated or saltwater can cause stomach upset in dogs. Keep fresh drinking water nearby to satiate your thirsty pup.
  • Keep your pool maintained. Proper chemical levels, clean filters, and trimmed nails will protect both your pup and your backyard oasis.

Jack Daniel's self-made pool setup may be unique, but his love of a relaxing day in the water is something plenty of dogs and their families can relate to. With a few safety measures in place, your own pup can also enjoy a refreshing cool-down this summer.
