Rare Australian Shepherd-Pomeranian Mix Looks Like a Real-Life Pixar Character

In a world with so many adorable dogs, snagging the "rare breed" superlative is a big deal. Some are considered rare because of an uncommon, beautiful coat color, while others take the cake by being a near-extinct breed.

For a dog named Doug, he gets the award for one of the most traffic-stopping, cartoonish appearances a dog can have. You have to see this Pixar-like Australian Shepherd-Pomeranian mix to believe he's actually real!

I interrupt your doom scrolling to present Doug. Have you ever? #dogsoftiktok#aussie#pomeranian#fyp#cute

Self Aware - Temper City

Doug exceeds all expectations for what "gorgeous" even means, because WOW! Between his petite, Pom-shaped frame, his beautiful merle Aussie coat, and the heterochromia-one icy blue and one brown eye-he's absolutely perfect!

You probably won't find such a stud muffin with this interesting mix of features in the shelter. Doug is considered a "designer" breed and quite a sight at that. Never one for blending in, this Australian mix is ready for his 15 minutes in some sort of Pixar flick (call his mom @use.ur.inside.invoice, execs)!

In case one of Mom Alli's videos of Doug isn't enough, here's a much better view of his adorable face! How is he real?! Seriously, he's such a babe!

Traits of Aussie-Pomeranian Mixes

Until now, I've never seen such a cool mix of breeds like Doug. Being two separate halves of two very different dogs, here's what you're in for with a mix like him:

  • Both Aussies and Poms are intelligent, affectionate, and high-energy pups.
  • Size can vary; they're usually between 10 and 20 pounds of pure loyalty, spunk, and extroverted vibes.
  • Visually, they usually have the Aussie's stunning coat colors (which can often be a thick, double coat) and patterns, but packaged as a Pomeranian. Regular brushing is necessary to prevent mats.
  • With smarty-pants parents, these pooches are quick learners made to show off some epic tricks.
  • They might be clingy! As a known Velcro dog on the Aussie side, expect to have a little shadow most of the day. They form deep bonds with their people and are prone to separation anxiety when left alone for too long.
  • Not all Poms or Aussies are vocal, but with the Spitz genes from one side and the herding trait from the other, they can be a little chatty, but they're excellent watchdogs.
  • They're big fans of lots of physical and mental stimulation to burn off energy and thrive in homes where they can get out and romp in the sunshine.

Whatever traits Doug's been #blessed with from either parent, we just know he's got that star quality that Hollywood's looking for!
