Dogs are always learning new things, but unfortunately for pet parents, not all of those new skills are not always exactly ones we approve of. TikToker K.Marie's clever Pit Bull seems to have gotten a little too smart for her own good, as viewers quickly discovered in this hilarious video.

The mischievous pup secretly figured out how to open the door all by herself and clearly wasted no time putting her new talent to use. She carefully attempted a completely silent escape from the house, and even after getting caught in the act, she still fully committed to the jailbreak and strutted right out the door anyway.

We laughed when K.Marie joked in the caption, "Caught our dog sneaking out the house like she had somewhere important to be..."

We actually tried to teach our Pit Bull how to open the door so she could let herself out, but it didn't work. Now K.Marie's family is going to have to keep the door locked to keep their dog in!

Why Some Dogs Become Escape Artists

Do you have a dog that tries to bolt the second the door opens? If so, you're definitely not alone. Dogs naturally want to explore, sniff, chase, and investigate everything around them, so the outside world can be incredibly tempting.

But curiosity isn't the only reason some dogs become little escape artists. Even well-loved and spoiled dogs may try to sneak away if they're bored or lacking enough physical and mental stimulation. High-energy and working breeds, especially, may go looking for their own "job" or adventure if they don't have enough to keep them occupied at home.

According to WebMD, dogs may also attempt escapes because of frustration, fear, separation anxiety, or even while searching for a mate.

And no matter how careful you are, even the best dogs can occasionally slip out the door, so it's important to be prepared. WebMD recommends making sure your dog is microchipped and always wears a collar with your up-to-date phone number.

When someone comes to the door, holding onto your dog's collar can help prevent surprise escapes. And if your pup does manage to sneak out, experts recommend resisting the urge to chase after them, since many dogs see that as part of a game. Instead, stay calm, call them back, and don't forget to reward them when they return.
