‘Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream': How To Cure Your Mii's Sadness

The Miis featured in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dreamare pretty stubborn creatures, and when it comes to solving their bad moods, it can take a lot of effort by the player.

The sadness moodlet appears when a dark raincloud overshadows a Mii, and their happiness bar is replaced with a sadness bar. There is a milder form of sadness from a poor social exchange, where blue lines appear on their face, but this can be cured quickly with a quick player-Mii interaction.

The full depressed moodlet, often prompted by a rejection by a crush, is much harder to get rid of, and it can take several days to get the happiness bar back. It can be highly annoying if you have ideas for your Mii and they refuse to participate in social interactions or activities.

How To Force Your Mii To Feel Better Faster

To begin with, you can shorten the sadness bar with gifts. Items considered higher value, such as video games or expensive antiques, are reported by players to be received more positively by Miis than other, cheaper items.

If you know your Mii's favorite food, which they've reacted to with "they loved/really liked it!," this will also help decrease the sadness bar, as will new outfits or home decor - if you choose wisely and they react positively, that is. There are also pets, which can be completed by rubbing the in-game cursor over their head. However, these choices have various success rates. Often, these are not enough to cure their sadness overall, but will shorten or decrease the intensity of their bad mood.

The trickiest part of the sadness moodlet is that, as their depression progresses, the Mii will isolate themselves for up to a few days, refusing to interact with fellow Miis or the player. One final, last-ditch attempt to improve their mood is to buy a travel ticket for your Mii by making a wish at the island fountain, an involuntary decision made by the player that will force them to engage in the activity, no matter how withdrawn they get. Miis will always react positively to going on vacation, no matter their personal taste or mood.
