Maine Coon Cat Catches Her Kitten ‘Sneaking Out' and Pulls a Classic Mom Move
Being a mom isn't easy, no matter what species you are. It is never easy, and it will never be easy, to care for another living thing. Especially when said living thing has never experienced danger or fear before and has no idea that they need to be careful.
A Maine Coon recently had babies of her own, and she's learning the hard way that they are exhausting. When one of them tried to venture outside of her sanctioned area, she pulled a classic mom move to reel her back in:

Salty Coons Kittens are so adorable, even if they're tiring out their moms rapidly. That's one of the reasons these kittens never actually get in any trouble: they're too cute. The humans of the cattery are never going to put their foot down, but luckily, their moms don't have that problem.
Gwen's mama, Mary Ann, does not play. She watched Gwen try to leave the gated area and immediately grabbed her, like, "Get your tail back in this house right now!" Obviously, Mary Ann loves her home and knows it's not dangerous, but she still doesn't want her baby wandering.

Mary Ann has every right to be cautious with her kittens. She actually gave birth to 6 kittens, but 3 of them ended up passing away. Now, she and the other cat who just had kittens take care of their babies together:

She's the most loving mom to the kittens she does have left, even if she's a little helicopter-y. She deserves to be, and honestly, Gwen is better for it.
Maine Coons Are Strict Parents
When a Maine Coon has kittens, you'd better watch out. There are certain ways you'll want to behave around her babies, or else you might get the claws!
Maine Coons watch their kittens very closely when they're born. They like to:
- Keep them in a close, safe space.
- Move them around, wherever they feel is the safest at the moment.
- Hiss at anyone who gets too close.
Kittens will eventually start to grow up and go on their own adventures, but their mothers will try to keep them as safe as they can. For example, if they move outside of the sanctioned "safe" space, she'll pull that baby right back in! Just ask Mary Ann!
